Sacred Heart Foundation

Since 1967

What is the Sacred Heart Foundation?

The Sacred Heart Foundation is a team of volunteers made up of people like you; dedicated to the mission of the Sacred Heart Foundation. We exist for one reason only: to help support the formation of priests for the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart. Established in 1967 by Fr. Pierre Aubin, MSC, with the help and support of other community leaders, the Sacred Heart Foundation became a tax- exempt corporation. They saw the need to provide not just for current seminarians but for the future as well. Supporting local seminarians initially, we have grown to reach out globally to over 18 countries around the world.

Through the generosity of many donors we have been able to invest in a permanent endowment fund ensuring the future of our foundation. Our support is generated through donations large and small from people like you.

We are given a mission by Christ himself to “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.” While you may be unable to go out into the world to spread the word of God, supporting the formation of MSC priests who spread the word throughout the world is another way to contribute to the mission.

Our Mission

The Sacred Heart Foundation spreads the word of God by raising funds which provide financial assistance for the education of those studying to be priests and brothers of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart anywhere in the world

Vision Statement

The Sacred Heart Foundation is a team of volunteers dedicated to providing educational scholarships for the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart. We demonstrate effective stewardship and sound business and investment strategies in the receipt of donations, expansion of our donor base, and implementation of fund raising activities. In doing so, we will inform and educate the community with regard to the Foundation’s mission and goals. As we engage in these efforts, we seek to advance the Church’s essential work of evangelization, spreading God’s word with its power to heal, to enlighten, to reconcile, and to save.

Who are the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart?

The Missionaries of the Sacred Heart (MSC) are an apostolic congregation of priests and brothers who believe that nothing is more important than the transforming power of God’s Love.

We are an order of Roman Catholic priests and brothers founded by Fr. Jules Chevalier in 1854 in Issoudun, France. Our order is based on the spirituality of the Sacred Heart, focusing on building healthy relationships with God, self, and others. We believe that encountering God can transform lives and heal relationships. Our founder, Fr. Chevalier gave the MSC the motto May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be loved everywhere. Today, we also follow a mission statement, We love as Jesus loved.

Spirit of the MSC

The spirit of our Congregation is made of love and kindness, humility and simplicity; but above all, it is a spirit of love for justice and concern for the welfare of all, specially the poorest ones. —Fr. Jules Chevalier, MSC Constitution 13

Often we have false images of God, which in turn causes us to suffer hurts, disillusionment, and despair. Sacred Heart spirituality opens our hearts, enabling us to experience the true God who loves us with a human heart and shows us the way to discover His image in ourselves, in others, and in all creation. This experience forgives, heals, and transforms our hearts and empowers us to also love with a truly free and open human heart.

Mission of the MSC

Through the Spirituality of the Heart, we work to serve the global community and to help others experience God’s transforming love by:

  • Spreading the Gospel
  • Responding to the needs of the poor, isolated, marginalized, or hopeless
  • Promoting human development and compassion, building and modeling healthy relationships and promoting Catholic social teachings
  • Encouraging lay leadership in the Church and involvement in our missions and spirituality.

All MSC have different roles in our order. Some of our members serve parishes, hospitals, and prisons. Others conduct special retreat programs. Still others proclaim and live the compassion of the Sacred Heart by going to our missions overseas, most of which are in poor and developing nations.
